The 14th edition of Montreal’s Divers/Cité, which took place from July 31st to August 6th, has come to a close and already can be considered a success. It was a collective and festive accomplishment that once again demonstrated how much Montreal loves celebrating Divers/Cité.

>AIR, FIRE, WATER, EARTH: FOUR ELEMENTS OF HOUSE MUSIC AT DIVERS/CITÉ

Year after year, the Divers/Cité Festival offers party people a series of great outdoor house music mega-happenings. The 14th edition of Divers/Cité will be no exception. Whether it is under the sun during the day or by the light of the stars at night, revellers will gather on improvised dance floors by the thousands to move to exceptional music spun by some of the greatest DJs on the planet.

One of Divers/Cité’s many outfits is a frock and every year during the Divers/Cité Festival there are a number of occasions to see Montreal’s exclusive drag queens and female impersonators in all of their theatrical glory. If you are a fan of big wigs, high heels and over-the-top histrionics, Divers/Cité has got something for you.

>EVEN MORE LIGHT AT THIS YEAR'S NIGHT PARADE
For the second year in a row, Montreal’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Pride Parade will take place at night, kicking off the eight-day celebration on Sunday, July 30th with a brilliant expression of our city’s diversity. With an increase in participants from last year, this year’s Night Parade promises to be even brighter with more associations, groups and businesses taking on the challenge to light up the night.

Divers/Cité is proud to have Quebec sex bomb, Caroline Néron perform (not once, but twice!) during this year’s Festival. This actress and singer will be performing two outdoor shows on Sunday, August 6 as part of both La Grande Danse and Le Grand Bal Disco.

GOING, GOING...
Attention partygoers: Tickets for Divers/Cité’s two official parties, Lesbomonde and Pride Ball, are disappearing fast. Each of these events have a capacity for only 2,000 people so if you plan on joining in on the fun now is the time to pick up your ticket.

One of clubland’s legendary vocalists, Crystal Waters, pays a special visit to 1, Boulevard des rêves, Divers/Cité’s annual celebration of song that also features some of the most powerful and beautiful voices to come out of Quebec.

>WE ARE WOLVES ON THE PROWL @ SEXGARAGE
Back from a successful tour of France, Germany, the UK and Belgium, Montreal’s band of sonic predators, We Are Wolves play their homecoming show at Sexgarage on Sunday, August 6th.

She might not know much about clothes, but her hair looks fierce! A walking, talking, living work of art, New York City’s Amanda Lepore appears (in the flesh!) live at Divers/Cité for Sexgarage 2.

> DEE @ NEW SOCIETY
On Friday, August 4th, Divers/Cité starts the weekend with a bang at New Society as of 4 p.m. Featuring live sets by current electronic music artists that are making a lot of noise, Montreal’s own DEE, the musical revelation of the summer, gets the ball rolling with a full band show at 17h.

>CARTE BLANCHE @ NANETTE WORKMAN
A friend and collaborator of Divers/Cité’s for numerous years now, Nanette has been granted “Carte Blanche” for an outdoor show in the park, so expect a jam packed evening of southern rock and blues with several surprise special guest stars.

>LYNDA THALIE @ PM DELUX
With a sound that has been described as “a fusion between the honey of Algeria and the maple syrup of Canada,” Algerian-Canadian singer Lynda Thalie sensuously marries Middle Eastern and Northern African rythms with sounds and beats of the Western world in a way that is both original and exotic.

>LOS AMIGOS INVISIBLES
@ CACHONDO LA NOCHE LATINA
After shaking up the ground at the main stage of this year’s Coachella Valley Music Festival (alongside such notable artists as Daft Punk, Madonna and Massive Attack), Venezuela’s Los Amigos Invisibles will be in Montreal for Divers/Cité, playing a complete concert of their soul-infused Latin rhythms on Thursday, August 3rd as part of Cachondo, la noche latina.

For Divers/Cité, internationally renowned Grammy Award winning DJ producer Hex Hector (Miami) will be spinning a soon-to-be unforgettable 3-hour outdoor set on Friday, August 4 in Émilie-Gamelin Park as part of New Society.

>GRAVY TRAIN !!!! @ SEXGARAGE 1
ALL ABOARD THE GRAVY TRAIN!!!!
Playing an urgent form of electro punk that is danceable and very dirty, Gravy Train!!!!’s songs are hilariously raunchy and catchy. With song titles like “Ghost Boobs,” “Titties Bounce,” and “You Made Me Gay,” the band promises a slutty stage show worthy of a scene from a John Water’s film. Hailing from San Francisco, this quartet of go-go boys and girls will be headlining Divers/Cité’s Sexgarage 1 Stage on Saturday, August 5.

>CRAZY ABOUT C.R.A.Z.Y.
Presented by Famous Quebec, the Quebecois hit film C.R.A.Z.Y., will be projected under the stars at this year’s Divers/Cité Festival, preceded by a DJ set by Montreal artist/illustrator Zïlon.

Lady Miss Kier @ Sexgarage 2
Just wanna hear a good beat? Divers/Cité is thrilled to announce that Lady Miss Kier of Deee-Lite fame will be taking to the stage at this year’s Festival, performing her hits live on Sunday, August 6 at Sexgarage 2 .

>ISRAELI DJ OFFER NISSIM @ PRIDE BALL
For his first time in Montreal, Israeli DJ, producer and musical remixer Offer Nissim will definitely be a sight to see (and a great sound to dance to) at this year’s Pride Ball. A party not to be missed!!

>DJ ULTRA NATÉ @ LESBOMONDE
Lesbomonde, Montreal’s biggest lesbian party of the year, is back at this year’s Divers/Cité!

>MARIK BOUDREAU'S 2005 MINI VIDEO CLIPS

Marik Boudreau, a Montreal based photographer, has seen and presented the World through her photographs. Her photographic works span the globe (China, Brazil, Andalusia to name a few). She has graced us with these 10 thirty-second video clips from 2005: ten of Divers/Cité’s memorable moments.

DJ, remixer and producer Alain Vinet will be performing at La Grande Danse! Taking part in Divers/Cité for the sixth year, Alain Vinet will be accompanied this time by percussionists Christian Lagueux and Raphael Artigliere and trumpet player Charles Imbault, as well as a few surprise guests.

Over the years Marleen Menard has solidified her reputation among the movers and shakers of Montreal’s cabaret music scene. Eternally passionate, this eminent host and organizer of colourful musical events in the city presents once more Divers/Cité’s most lyrical evening...

Have you heard of Dr. Draw? He is the electronic violin virtuoso with a penchant for break dancing while sawing the strings of his classical instrument. Combining traditional hymns with the furious electro pop rock of the 21st century, Draw’s highly charged musical compositions could be best described as Chopin meets David Bowie.

Montreal’s electrifying DJ Champion will be performing live with his G-Strings on Saturday July 30, outdoors at Emilie-Gamelin Park as part of Divers/Cité’s PMdelux/Sunset Party.

Toronto’s house guru Deko-ze opens La Grande Danse with one of his infamous morning sets on Sunday July 31 on Berri Street, beginning at 11 am

Dubtribe Sound System has been around for a long time. If you take into consideration that electronic music bands are largely short-lived then they are practically ancient. In fact, they were already making music when the whole electronic music explosion was still in its infancy.

Tickets are now on-sale for Songspiel: electronic cabaret, an operatic evening of electronic music, video and dance that will have you clutching your pearls!

With a sound that is both at home in a dark bedroom or on a crowded dance floor, The Organ write melancholic pop music reminiscent of the best of the 80’s new-wave bands.

Divers/Cité is proud to announce the participation of great Mexican singer Lila Downs at this year’s Festival. Taking to the stage on Thursday night July 28, Downs will perform a full concert in Émilie-Gamelin Park as part of Cachondo, la noche latina.

German photographer Henning Von Berg will be in Montreal during Divers/Cité for an outdoor exhibition of photographs from two of his latest collections, Naked Berlin and Naked Sydney.

After 13 years it is time for a new dress and this year Divers/Cité will be breaking out the evening wear for a Night Parade, kicking off the seven day Pride Celebrations on Monday, July 25.

Continuing with the tradition of showing groundbreaking queer cinema outdoors during Divers/Cité, this year’s Cinema in the Park returns to Emilie-Gamelin Park for a screening of Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar’s controversial 2004 film, La Mala Educación.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. The 12th edition of Divers/Cité was an enormous success, due largely to general public who continue to come out, year after year, to take part in Divers/Cité’s cultural activities.
